Liverpool cemented their status as Premier League leaders with a 3-1 win against Leicester City on Boxing Day.
The Reds fell behind to a goal from Jordan Ayew, but Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones got their names on the scoresheet to turn the tide in Arne Slot’s favour.
Liverpool are now six points clear of second-placed Arsenal while also having a game in hand, putting themselves in a fantastic position to compete for the Premier League title.

Their win against the Foxes was thoroughly deserved, but there was a moment in the game right before the internal that irked some of the players.
Ayew gave Leicester the lead against the run of play as he turned Andy Robertson and drilled a low shot into the back of the net via a deflection.
However, Liverpool then grew into the game and attacked relentlessly in search of the equaliser that came through Gakpo, who planted a curling effort into the bottom corner from the left flank.
The Dutchman’s goal came minutes before half-time and just before the referee blew his whistle, the Reds had another chance to have a shot on goal through Gakpo.
With Liverpool in such an advantageous position, play was expected to go on, but the referee blew his whistle for half-time, which prompted angry reactions from Gakpo, Van Dijk and Alisson Becker as seen below in the video (6:30 onwards).
What next for Liverpool?
The Reds will look to finish 2024 on a positive note as they face West Ham United away from home tomorrow and regardless of what happens, they will be on top of the Premier League standings.
Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate are still injured, but Liverpool will also be without Dominik Szoboszlai vs West Ham, with the midfielder set to serve a one-match ban for accumulating five yellow cards.
The Hammers, for their part, have a few injuries and suspensions to deal with, so the Reds will look to take advantage of their woes to pick up three more points on the road.
