At the end of the 2024/2025 Premier League season, Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Manchester City could be looked back upon as the game that decided the title race.
Pep Guardiola’s men suffered their fourth consecutive league defeat as Arne Slot’s side dominated them for a majority of Sunday’s showdown.
It seems like only Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side are capable of challenging Liverpool for the coveted league crown at this moment in time.
As for Manchester City, a seventh successive game without a win in all competitions indicates that it is undeniable that this team is suffering a crisis.
A player who has come under fire for his performance against Liverpool is Kyle Walker.
Jamie Carragher slated Walker and claimed that he is becoming a “liability” for Manchester City.
Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias caught arguing against Liverpool
Manchester City fans criticised Kyle Walker as well and demanded that he is offloaded, whether that is in January or in the summer transfer window.
Just 14 minutes into City’s clash against Liverpool, Walker was at the front and centre of proceedings as he was spotted arguing with Ruben Dias.
The pair were presumably breaking down where the defence faltered in the lead-up to Cody Gakpo’s opening goal in the 12th minute.
Walker even let out his frustrations whilst having a chat with Bernardo Silva, who seemed visibly distraught, with such arguments rarely ever taking place on the pitch by Manchester City players.
Kyle Walker disclosed Manchester City’s “emotion” as a group in the days leading up to their encounter against Liverpool to get the all-important three points.
Ruben Dias’ message to Manchester City fans was a spirited one as he expressed his burning desire to fight for the badge.
Jamie Carragher says Man City’s title hopes are over
However, the pair’s claims were proven to be in vain as the Reds comfortably beat the visitors.
Jamie Carragher commented on Manchester City’s title hopes by claiming that they can no longer get the job done and instead, they are merely in a battle to reach the top four.

Carragher said: “I think it’s almost a mini-crisis for Manchester City.”
“I think it’s reminiscent of Liverpool two years ago. I actually think Man City might have a fight on their hands for the top four. I actually look at Arsenal and Chelsea and the way they’re looking now and I think it will be difficult to finish above them if they don’t go into the market in January.”
Walker and Dias will be hoping that Manchester City can bounce back and eventually prove Jamie Carragher wrong.
But there seems to be trouble in paradise at City as they are a team in disarray.
