Omar Marmoush has sent a clear message to Liverpool after equalling a record previously held by Lionel Messi. The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the Eintracht Frankfurt star over the last few weeks, with the rumours seemingly intensifying in recent days.
Marmoush has scored 14 goals with 10 assists in all competitions for Frankfurt this season. It’s that form that has led to the Egypt international being linked with a move away from the Bundesliga club, with Bayern Munich also supposedly interested.
Sunday saw Marmoush get his 14th goal of the season in a 3-2 win over Stuttgart. The 25-year-old found the back of the net with a sublime free-kick that beat Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool’s reported interest in Marmoush turns out to be genuine. The Reds may have the advantage over their rivals in a deal to sign Marmoush, with some reports suggesting that the forward may want to link up with his international teammate, Mohamed Salah, whose contract at Anfield is currently set to expire at the end of the season.
