The journalist pointed out that the 26-year-old would fall further down the pecking order under Sean Dyche when Armando Broja returns to action.
Therefore, it is likely that the former Udinese frontman will be made available for a transfer when the January transfer opens in two months.
“I’m told that he will be available in January if and when it comes to that”, Bailey told Everton.News.
“It’s one of those which wasn’t that wise in hindsight. To be fair I don’t think there’s that much pressure on him. Everton fans weren’t looking to him as the oracle.“It was one of them where it wasn’t quite a shot in the dark as he’s okay at what he does but he’s no more than that.
“Obviously we’ve got to see Armando Broja coming back to fitness, and once Broja does come back to fitness we don’t envisage [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin moving this January, never say never, but as it stands don’t expect that to happen.
“So if and when Broja returns and Calvert-Lewin’s there, Beto’s going to have even less of a chance.“I don’t think Everton will be desperate unless they get a decent bid. They’ll tackle it in January.”
Beto has not been particularly bad for Everton, grabbing the equaliser in the team’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Fulham at Goodison last Saturday (26 October).
However, the Guinea-Bissau international would want to spend the peak years of his career playing regularly instead of warming the bench or worse, which would most likely be the case when Broja and Chermiti return.
The Athletic reported on 9 October that the feeling at Finch Farm is that Broja, who is on loan at the club from Chelsea, can hit lofty heights with the Toffees.
A return to Italy would be the most sensible and likeliest option for Beto as he spent two years there before moving to Merseyside.
Juventus have notably been credited with an interest in the striker. While the Serie A giants are also eyeing Calvert-Lewin, a move for the former is deemed more plausible (GiveMeSport).
It now remains to be seen if Beto can change the minds of those at Everton before January.
