Liverpool continued their stunning start to life under Arne Slot with a 2-1 win against Chelsea last weekend to cement their place at the top of the Premier League table.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones gave the Reds a crucial win at Anfield, with Nicolas Jackson getting his name on the scoresheet for Chelsea.
The two goalscorers were Liverpool’s best performers against the Blues, while others like Caoimhin Kelleher and Trent Alexander-Arnold also stood out on the night.
However, Gary Neville and Roy Keane felt one Liverpool player looked a bit flustered, which was quite unlike his usual sel
Neville mentioned during the game that Noni Madueke was consistently getting the better of Robertson, a situation he described as ‘strange’ at the time.
Discussing the Scot’s performance on Stick to Football, the Manchester United icon felt he simply wasn’t himself against Chelsea despite Liverpool coming out on the winning side.
Neville said “Andy Robertson – he’s a brilliant defender but I thought something was up with him last week,” to which Roy Keane simply quipped, “People kept running by him, that’s not good.”
That said, Neville also praised Robertson’s longevity earlier this season, with the experienced defender keeping his place in the team since signing for the club for £10m at the start of the 2017-18 season.
How has Robertson fared under Slot?
Robertson has featured in 11 of Slot’s first 12 games in charge of Liverpool across all competitions, earning nine starts to firmly establish himself as the Dutchman’s first-choice left-back.
The Scot missed a large part of pre-season but was drafted straight into the starting XI for the first Premier League game against Ipswich Town, which is a clear sign that the manager has a lot of faith in him.

However, with his contract set to expire in 2026, Liverpool have an important decision to make on the 30-year-old’s future next summer as he’d only have a year left on his deal at the time.
Michael Edwards has thus far been reluctant to hand out big contracts to players on the wrong side of 30, so it remains to be seen if he makes an exception with Robertson.
