Liverpool are being linked with three centre-backs ahead of the January transfer window. The Reds were heavily linked with signing a new centre-back this summer, but instead opted to stick with existing options in the squad.
Arne Slot made one new addition to the Liverpool squad which he inherited from Jurgen Klopp this summer. Italy star Federico Chiesa arrived from Juventus – with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili not officially moving to Anfield until next summer and he remains at Spanish giants Valencia.
The January transfer window is now a couple of months away, at which point Liverpool will be able to strengthen their squad, should they wish to do so. Rumours are already starting to swirl about the business that the Reds may conduct in the New Year, with some interesting names doing the rounds.
The ECHO has taken a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip which have generated the headlines over the last 24 hours. Liverpool are being linked with a move for Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode ahead of the January transfer window.
According to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, the Reds have added the centre-back, who can also play at right-back, to their shortlist ahead of a potential move in the New Year. The report reckons Kayode has previously been a target for Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Brentford and Bournemouth in recent months.
It has been claimed, though, that Liverpool are now in the running and are weighing up submitting an offer when the January window opens. Kayode has played just 18 minutes in Serie A this season for Fiorentina and could be in search of more regular game-time with a move in January, with £21million mooted as his valuation.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are once again being linked with swoops for Sevilla defender Loic Bade and Sporting Lisbon centre-back Goncalo Inacio. According to El Mira, Bade and Inacio are still defensive targets for the Reds ahead of the January transfer window.
It has been reported that Liverpool are looking to sign Bade when the transfer window reopens. Inacio has also been mentioned as a target, but a price tag of £38million could mean that the Reds may ‘favour’ a deal for Bade, who may be allowed to leave for a lower fee than that.
The report claims that Bade has a £50million (€60million) release clause in the contract extension that he signed last month. However, it has been reported Sevilla could even allow him to depart of an offer worth £33.5million is made when the market reopens.
