Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has sent a wordless message while away with Egypt during October’s international break. The 32-year-old has been in tip-top form in the opening weeks of the 2024/25 campaign with the Reds now topping the Premier League table and thriving under new head coach Arne Slot.
Alongside six league victories, Liverpool have also beaten AC Milan and Bologna in Champions League action with the only blemish on their record a shock 1-0 reverse to Nottingham Forest. Salah’s goal contributions have played a major role in that success, with six goals and five assists already to his name this season.
Despite that, and Slot’s incredible start to life at Anfield, whispers surrounding his future is what’s dominating the headlines. Salah would like to stay at Liverpool beyond when his contract expires in 2025 – although no significant progress appears to have been made.
As it is such a huge topic, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk also due to be out of contract, Slot has been regularly asked for updates with the latest question arriving before their game against Crystal Palace which, seemingly, saw the Reds manager finally lose patience.
“Contracts?” asked Slot while laughing. “I was hoping in your last question that you didn’t use the word ‘contract’, because I was saying; ‘Trent is doing like this and he’s doing like this.
“It’s the same boring answer as always,” Slot went on. “I could really understand if you ask me this once every two weeks but if you ask me this after two or three days again then you still get the same answer and people feel that I’m boring them, so try it after the international break again.”
Although so much is going on in the background, Salah remains solely focused on the task at hand with his latest social media post showing exactly that. On his Instagram story, he uploaded a selfie in what looks to be a workout studio before Egypt face Mauritania in an AFCON qualifier on Friday evening (5pm).
Just four days later, Egypt play the same opponents with Salah then set to travel back to Merseyside. With the Reds’ next Premier League clash against Chelsea not arriving until next Sunday afternoon, he will have plenty of time to recover and train with his teammates before facing his former club.
