Both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick began new careers in the media this year. The former New England Patriots coach has a slew of gigs including being a recurring guest on the “ManningCast,” “The Pat McAfee Show” and having his own show, “Coach With Bill Belichick” on Underdog Fantasy.
The 72-year-old also co-hosts the “Let’s Go!” podcast.
Belichick — who was known for his short, straightforward answers when dealing with the media during his time as Patriots coach — has shown a bit of personality during his appearances. He’s used humor and experience to draw some positive reviews from around the business — including his former quarterback.
“I actually think coach has done an amazing job in the roles that he’s been in and (is) just so insightful. All his experience over so many years, I don’t think you could have a better person be involved for the public to actually listen to how games are being called,” Brady said during an appearance on the “Let’s Go!” podcast — his first appearance since Belichick succeeded him as co-host.
“He’s got so much insight into the history of the game, and I’ve learned a lot seeing it sitting in those team meeting rooms for 20 years,” he added. “And I love the fact that so many people sitting around many days of the week listen to him now, (and he educates) the people on what football is really all about.”
The two have always complimented the other throughout their careers. And while Brady’s first two weeks in the booth were met with mixed reviews, Belichick enjoyed what he’s heard from the seven-time Super Bowl champion.
Belichick made sure to note he’s always enjoyed talking football with Brady and that he’s learned “an awful lot” from the Patriots Hall of Famer. There is one thing, though, Belichick still struggles with.
“But what’s tough for me is this social media, man,” Belichick said. “I feel like I’m in the middle of the ocean without a life preserver, and I’m never gonna make it to shore.”
Belichick recently joined Instagram and has been posting rather consistently, including a post celebrating the 2014 Patriots team, who were honored during New England’s Week 2 home opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
