Liverpool’s season hit an unexpected snag on Saturday as Nottingham Forest took all three points away from Anfield on Arne Slot’s worst day in charge of the club so far.
The Reds never got going against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, and a series of questionable substitutions in the second half handed Forest the initiative, with Callum Hudson-Odoi scoring the winning goal from outside the area.
Slot was highly critical of his team’s performance, saying: “We only have to look at ourselves, we have to be better. Far too many times we lost the ball around the area, it was not good enough. We have to be better with the ball. Our decisions and execution wasn’t good enough.”
Meanwhile, in transfer news, Liverpool is being linked with moves for England midfielder Angel Gomes and Sevilla center-back Loic Bade. Stick with us as we have all the reaction from the weekend’s game and the build-up to the trip to AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Arne Slot reaction vs Nottingham Forest
Liverpool boss Arne Slot suffered his first defeat in charge of the Reds at Anfield on Saturday and his unbeaten start is already over after a really poor showing against Nottingham Forest.
“The result frustrates the most and we cannot be happy about how the game went,” Slot admitted. “It was a stop-start game and we hardly created any chances. We only have to look at ourselves, we have to be better. Far too many times we lost the ball around the area, it was not good enough.
“We have to be better with the ball. Our decisions and execution wasn’t good enough. In general, we defended quite well but the two fast players came on and made it difficult. We took a lot of risk and in the end, it was a very good goal.”
