Mohamed Salah has started the 2024/25 Premier League season in scintillating form, and with a brand new archer celebration as well.
The Egyptian has wasted no time in reestablishing himself as a key player for Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot – with the Dutchman impressed a
After a challenging 2023/24 season where he struggled with injuries that impacted his performance, Salah appears rejuvenated and is already making a significant impact.
In the season opener against Ipswich Town, Salah set a new Premier League record by scoring his ninth goal in a Matchweek 1 fixture, helping Liverpool secure a 2-0 victory.
His goal not only sealed the win but also placed him ahead of Premier League legends like Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, and Alan Shearer, who each have eight goals on opening weekends.
Continuing his excellent form, Salah found the back of the net again in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brentford in their second match of the season at Anfield.
His goal in the 70th minute ensured that Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the campaign, making it two wins from two games. This goal was his fifth in the last four meetings with Brentford.
He is now poised to add to his own existing record this Sunday as Mohamed Salah has the most career goals in the Premier League versus Man United with 11 goals.
So will he be able show off with his new celebration at Old Trafford this weekend?
Why has Mohamed Salah adopted this archer celebration?
It seems that Mohamed Salah is a UFC fan, with the celebration coming from Alex Pereira vs Israel Adesanya 2, where Adesanya was able to beat the Brazilian via knockout.
Speaking to Men in Blazers, the Liverpool legend said:
“I was watching the UFC, Alex Pereira against Israel Adesanya and when [Adesanya] won the second fight against Pereira – he celebrated like that.”
“So, I like the celebration and that’s why I did it.”

It certainly has caught on, and the new celebration also seems to be a good luck charm with the 32-year-old starting the campaign in inspired form.
Earlier this week, Salah remained coy on his contract situation at the club, saying:
“I came before the season, and I was like okay, I have one year left so just enjoy it, don’t think about the contract now, don’t think about anything and really just enjoy,” he said.
“I don’t want to think about next year and don’t want to think about my future.”
Salah sees his contract expire at Liverpool in the summer of 2025 – at the end of this season.
