After a quiet window at Anfield, Liverpool look to have finally bolstered their squad with the signing of Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.
The Italian international left Turin on Wednesday to travel to Merseyside for a medical, with a deal of £10m plus add-ons having been agreed between to the two sides. Once one of Europe’s most promising prospects, Chiesa’s signing is a gamble.
While he is only 26, Chiesa has missed 91 games in four seasons with Juventus. Back in January 2022, the Italian suffered an ACL injury which sidelined him for the remainder of the 2021/22 season, as well as part of the following campaign.
And when factoring in the price some players are going for in the current transfer market, Liverpool could certainly do worse than take a gamble on Chiesa – whose transfer fee has essentially been paid by the sell-on clause the Reds received after Bournemouth sold Dominic Solanke to Tottenham Hotspur.
