Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has praised Liverpool’s way of playing under Arne Slot describing them as ‘less vulnerable’ out of possession than under Jurgen Klopp.
The former defender has highlighted how Arne Slot’s style of play differs from that of Klopp stating Liverpool are now presenting their opponents with fewer goalscoring opportunities.
Nicol touched on The Reds’ ability to nulify potential opposition counter attacks quickly will help them immensley on Sunday when they travel to Old Trafford to face rivals Manchester United.
“United can only win this game on the counter attack but the way Liverpool played and the way they changed how they went forward, it wasn’t the rock and roll of Klopp, it was more measured.
“There was a sense of ‘we can out pass teams but we aren’t going to do it in a way that makes us vulnerable if we lose the ball’.
“When Brentford won the ball back, Liverpool smothered them and that’s not something Liverpool did the last two seasons, they’ve been giving opportunities away,” Nicol said on ESPN.
