European clubs continue their active work in the transfer market, and English clubs are no exception as they search for talents worldwide.
Everton, which faced challenges in the championship last season and narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship due to financial fair play violations, is also looking to strengthen its squad. One of the targets for the Liverpool-based club is 24-year-old winger Jesper Lindstrøm from SSC Napoli.
Previously, there was information that the Dane was a target for Verona, but according to Fabrizio Romano, the clubs have not started negotiations. However, the insider claims that Everton has approached the former Italian champions and has already begun talks regarding the player’s transfer.
Lindstrøm has spent only a year in Naples, having moved to Italy last summer for €30 million from Eintracht Frankfurt. The winger played in Germany for three years. It is not yet clear what the transfer fee will be, but over the year in Napoli, Lindstrøm’s value has decreased by about €6 million, and according to the statistical portal Transfermarkt, his contract is currently valued at €22 million.
Napoli will likely seek to recoup as much of the money spent on the player as possible, but it is uncertain what amount the English club will agree to. Last season, the Dane played 29 matches without any goal contributions and failed to secure a place in the starting lineup.
