Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has poked fun at Jamie Carragher over the reality that Liverpool failed to qualify for this season’s Champions League.
Henry and Carragher work collectively as pundits on CBS Sports’ insurance of the Champions League and whilst discussing Wednesday’s quarter-final clashes between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, the World Cup winner may want to not resist taking a dig at his colleague.
“It’s clearly better when Liverpool are not in the Champions League,” Henry quipped. “He behaves, he’s a bit greater relaxed, there is less screaming…”
Carragher then pointed out that CBS also have the rights for the Europa League, with Liverpool set to face Atalanta in the quarter-finals of that competition. However, when presenter Kate Abdo asked if he wanted to work as a pundit on the Europa League, Carragher replied: “I’ll do the final.”
Carragher and Henry have additionally made their predictions on who they assume will win the Champions League this season, along with fellow CBS pundits Micah Richards and Peter Schmeichel. Carragher has backed City to raise the trophy once again after they drew 3-3 with Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-final.
“Right, Arsenal-Bayern. I’m going to go for European experience, I’m going to go for Bayern,” Carragher said. “At the bottom here, I’m going to go for Man City [vs Real Madrid] – the fine group in Europe.
“Over here, I’m going to go for Atletico Madrid [vs Borussia Dortmund], they’re going to go in there. Kylian is going to do it [in PSG vs Barcelona]. Then, out of these two [Atletico Madrid and PSG], I’m going to go for PSG in the ultimate to play Manchester City. And the winner is…the membership with 115 charges, Manchester City!”
