Harry Redknapp has picked who he thinks is a better manager out of Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp.
The 77-year-old overlooked 642 Premier League games during his managerial career, winning 237, drawing 167 and losing 238.
Now though, the former Tottenham Hotspur head coach has shared his thoughts on two of the Premier League’s current managers.
Redknapp picks who’s best between Guardiola and Klopp
Speaking in a recent quickfire Q&A shared on the ESPN UK TikTok channel, Redknapp had this to say when asked to choose between Guardiola and Klopp.
He said: “Oh my God, two great managers. Probably Pep.”
In the Premier League, Guardiola has taken charge of 297 games, winning 218, drawing 41 and losing 38, leaving him with a points-per-match average of 2.34.
In comparison, Klopp has overlooked 327 top-flight matches, winning 206, drawing 76 and losing 45, giving the German a points-per-game average of 2.12.
Guardiola vs Klopp: Trophies
Regarding the silverware both managers have won during their time in charge of their respective sides, the Spaniard has won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, one Champions League, one UEFA SuperCup and one FIFA Club World Cup.
On the other side, Klopp has won one Premier League, one Champions League, two League Cups, one FA Cup, one UEFA SuperCup and one FIFA Club World Cup.
At the end of last season, the 53-year-old won his second Treble after first doing it with Barcelona back in 2011.
Taking all of that into account, it’s easy to see why Redknapp has picked Guardiola over Klopp given the significant number of trophies the City boss has lifted during his managerial career as well as the number of records he’s broken in English football.
While both managers could end this season with domestic and European trophies added to their cabinets, it’s clear that City and Liverpool have been very lucky to have Guardiola and Klopp in charge of their teams for such a long time.
