We’re heading into the business-end of the Premier League season.
The title race is, of course, the centre of attention, and there is a champion to be crowned come the quit of the campaign.
However, away from the title race, there are also some person accolades to be decided which includes the Player of the Year award.
Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing who he’d choose for his Player of the Year, and he says that one Liverpool player would be a essential contender for him.
Liverpool player is up there with the best
Seaman spoke about his Player of the Year contenders and he narrowed it down to Virgil van Dijk and Declan Rice, claiming that he’d select Van Dijk in advance of Rodri.
“If I had to pick between Rodri and Van Dijk, I’d go with Van Dijk, I suppose he’s had extra of an influence. So it’s between Van Dijk or Rice,” Seaman said.
Virgil van Dijk’s large season
Whether or now not Van Dijk is higher than Rodri is up for debate, however what you can’t deny is that Van Dijk has had an large season at Liverpool.
The Reds are top of the league for a reason, and their stellar protecting efforts this term have been massive in their success up until this point.
Van Dijk did have a dip final season, there’s no doubt about that, but the centre-back has been back to his very first-class this time around, and that’s why Liverpool take a seat at the very top of the pile at the moment.
If Van Dijk can preserve this up for the next eight games, there’s every hazard Liverpool will be champions come the stop of the season.
