The New England Patriots have reportedly decided to have their wide receiver Kendrick Bourne return for the upcoming season as they have offered him a contract extension according to ProFootballTalk via Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald.
The squad had offered him the contract before the NFL Scouting Combine and the terms of the contract however are still known. The negotiations between teams and pending free agents can begin on March 11.
The wide receiver might also wait for the offers from other teams before he makes judgment regarding his future. As per the report’s source, the Patriots squad had offered Bourne the potential contract extension after he sustained an injury tearing his ACL.
Bourne had also shared earlier with ESPN regarding the squad and mentioned, “That is a goal of mine. I love being a Patriot — it’s a great environment for a person like me. Being a Patriot helped me grow into the player I am today. I’m thankful for the organization, but you never know. I’ve been in free agency before and I didn’t know what would happen. And I don’t know now.”
The 28-year-old talented wide receiver is progressing in his rehabilitation so that he can recover and join the squad after medical clearance. The player also checked in with the squad’s facility for his checkup as well.
