Bill Belichick is handling his breakup with the New England Patriots well as he considers media opportunities, his son, Steve, revealed.
The second-winningest coach in NFL history is currently out of work after calling time on his reign in New England last month after 24 years with the franchise.
The legendary Patriots coach was snubbed by the Atlanta Falcons for their head coach vacancy meaning he will not be in the league for the first time since the 1974 season.
But his son Steve, who is now the defensive coordinator at the University of Washington after also leaving the Patriots a month ago, insisted his dad was handling his New England exit well.
Steve joined Chris Long on Long’s Green Light podcast and the former Patriots defensive end asked him how his dad was coping.
‘I think he’s good,’ Steve said. ‘Let the stuff roll off your back and move forward. He doesn’t dwell, unless we lost a game and he needs to get on some guys. Eventually you need to turn the page.
‘Honestly I wasn’t too involved in any of that stuff, he did his thing, I did my thing and that was kind of that. He’s definitely pursuing some other stuff, whether it’s TV or hopefully a regular on the Green Light or whatever it may be.’
Long also asked Steve which hobbies his former head coach could turn to to fill his time.
And outside of pursuing media opportunities, Steve insisted his dad’s life will still be very much football-orientated.

‘His hobbies would still be to, let’s say, critique football,’ Belichick said. ‘So you know he was excited when I came out here because he got to evaluate the scheme last year, evaluate the players last year. I’m sure he’ll come out here at some point to do some stuff. The guy just loves football, so there’s definitely that element.’
Belichick could eye a coaching return as he waits for more opportunities to open up in 2025 following the end of next season.
Analyst Craig Carton had claimed that Belichick could be headed to Kansas City to replace Andy Reid.
