As expected, the New England Patriots will need a new coach.Boston College is hiring Will Lowing as the program’s next offensive coordinator, according to ESPN. The move reunites Rowing with Bill O’Brien, who became the Eagles coach last Friday.
Lowing is a longtime O’Brien assistant who followed Foxborough’s offensive coordinator last season. Before that, Lowing worked for O’Brien at Penn State, the Houston Texans and the University of Alabama. With O’Brien returning as head coach, Lowing will have his first opportunity to be the offensive coordinator at Chestnut Hill.
Now that Rowing’s move is official, the sweeping overhaul of the Patriots’ offensive coaching staff will continue. In addition to filling Lowing’s shoes as tight ends coach, New England still has opportunities to fill as receivers and running backs coach.
