New England Patriots quarterback Rob Gronkowski didn’t send Adam Vinatieri inside during Super Bowl LVIII. Instead, the future Hall of Famer looked more like Chad Ryland. After missing a 25-yard field goal attempt for at least a year in the Super Bowl, Gronkowski sought redemption in FanDuel’s “Strike of Destiny.” The 34-year-old lined up in the same yard on Sunday but again failed to clear the post.Gronkowski had plenty of legs, but the ball flew right.
Here you can see Gronkowski miss the attempt:If Gronkowski, 34, plans to return to the NFL, he certainly won’t be auditioning to be a kicker. It’s exactly what the Patriots need after Chad Ryland’s dismal rookie season. Ryland made just 16 of 25 field goals. This will be the training ground for Gronkowski, who currently works as an analyst for FOX. If Gronkowski wants to score a touchdown in next year’s Super Bowl, a third try might be appealing.
