The Patriots are reportedly working to add Robert Coogler to their offensive coaching staff.
The New England Patriots have added a new assistant coach to their offensive line. According to the Boston Sports Journal, the Patriots are in the process of finalizing a deal to add former Carolina Panthers offensive line coach Robert Kugler to their staff.
Kugler has worked on Carolina’s offensive line the past two seasons and has established himself as a respected young coach. The 31-year-old played in a similar role for one season with the Houston Texans in early 2021.
Prior to his NFL career, Kugler began coaching at the college level as a graduate assistant. This includes time spent as a rigorous training coach at the University of Texas at El Paso and as a quality control coach at Appalachian State University.
Kugler also played center at Purdue, starting 43 consecutive games from 2012 to 2015. He then had a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills in 2016.Coogler’s exact position has not been announced, but he could join forces with Scott Peters on New England’s offensive line. The pair will look to turn around a Patriots offensive line that was led by Adrian Klemm and Billy Yates last season and ranked near last in the league in many ways.
