The Patriots did not retool their offensive line and added another former player to the lineup on Friday. New England is finalizing a deal to add former Carolina Panthers assistant offensive line coach Robert Kugler to the state, according to Mike Giardy of the Boston Sports Journal.

He spent the last two seasons in Carolina, starting with the Houston Texans. His career began as a teaching assistant at UTEP and served as a collegiate teaching assistant at Washington State and Appalachian State.
Kugler played at Purdue and had a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills. He is the son of former Arizona Cardinals assistant Sean Kugler, who was fired for groping a woman during the team’s trip to Mexico. Sean Kugler became the Bills’ offensive line coach when new Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt asked him to play in Buffalo.
