The Cleveland Browns can’t catch a break now.To be more specific, their offensive line can’t catch a break right now. With Alex Van Pelt joining the New England Patriots as their next offensive coordinator, T.C. McCartney will be the QB coach.
Now he’s expected to lure OL assistant coach Scott Peters to Foxboro, Adam Kaplan said on Twitter. Like Van Pelt, McCartney was dismissed from the team at the end of the season, but Peters was still under contract in Berea.
This is a huge blow to the team as they lost OL coach Bill Callahan, arguably the best in the entire league. Callahan joins his son Brian, who recently became the head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
Peters was the obvious candidate to take over and take over from Callahan, but that is no longer the case. The Browns could name him instead, as they interviewed Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson for the offensive coordinator role.
Even with Ken Dorsey taking over, the running game is still expected to be a major factor in this team’s offense, so they desperately need someone who can pick up the slack and maintain a solid level of play on the offensive line.
Callahan and Peters were ready to put on a show every week, with several guys taking their place due to the injuries the club suffered last season.
