Will Bill O’Brien go to BC? The former Patriots coach called Job “The Guy.”
Bill O’Brien could be in New England.
O’Brien left the Patriots last month to become Ohio State’s offensive coordinator. But with Jeff Hafley leaving Boston College to join the Green Bay Packers, O’Brien is now one of the favorites for the head coaching job in Chestnut Hill.In fact, according to Kevin Stone of the New England Football Journal, O’Brien is considered the school’s top prospect. Stone wrote on the Platform “But obviously the final decision rests with (President William Leahy).”But this is not a foregone conclusion.
Stone also reported that O’Brien’s main competition was Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington, who saw an “outpouring of support” from BC alumni.”The source said: ‘Bill was their first choice.’ But “the social/$$$ climate was in his (Al’s) favor,” Stone wrote.
“As I’ve said from the beginning, BOB has always been ‘the man’ for almost everyone involved, but now other factors come into play.”Either way, O’Brien could have a big role in college football in 2024. But the Massachusetts native hopes the stars will align with him at Boston University.
