The Patriots reportedly targeted the head of human resources.
Robert Kraft says the New England Patriots will hire a new head of personnel after considering internal and external options. After weeks of speculation, it looks like they’ve made a decision.NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that Elliot Wolff appears to be in charge of the Patriots’ personnel department.
Nothing is known about the exact name of the wolf.Rapoport said Wolff will lead the 53-man roster and work closely with first-year head coach Jerod Mayo. He also manages and works with Pat Stewart, Matt Groh and newly hired HR manager Alonzo Highsmith.Considered another internal candidate for New England’s starting role, Groh will likely command college scouts. Stewart, a senior personnel consultant hired by the Patriots in March, spent two seasons with the Carolina Panthers as vice president of player personnel.
This is not surprising as Wolff and Groh were considered top prospects in New England. This development comes after Wolf’s fingerprints have been included on several recent hires, including offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery, offensive assistants Ben McAdoo and Highsmith.
It has been reported that Highsmith will serve as senior human resources officer. Wolf, 41, previously played 14 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and spent two seasons as an assistant general manager for the Cleveland Browns.
