Patriots rumors: Longtime NFL running back joins front office.
If it wasn’t already known that Patriots scouting director Eliot Wolff was working in Foxborough, Massachusetts, it certainly was now. He brings another former colleague to New England.Longtime running back Alonzo Highsmith is back in the NFL and a position in the Patriots’ personnel department has yet to be determined, according to The Athletic.
The 1987 third overall pick has worked in the front offices of the Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks and most recently was the general manager of the Miami Heat.
Highsmith is another former Wolf hire, joining offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, offensive assistant Ben McAdoo and defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery. This is the Patriots’ first front office hire since Bill Belichick retired.
Aged 58, he has nearly 30 seasons of experience as a player, scout and manager.
