Patrick Mahomes Sr. A Texas man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday night, ESPN reported, citing online jail records. The father of a Kansas City Chiefs player is being held on $10,000 bail after being charged with driving while intoxicated three or more times.
Mahomes, 54, was released from the Smith County Jail early Sunday morning. Under Texas state law, Mahomes Sr. is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison if convicted, according to ESPN. The former Major League Baseball pitcher pleaded guilty to a personal DUI charge in Texas in 2018. This year, his son was drafted by Kansas City and spent 40 days in jail over the weekend, according to ESPN.
Mahomes Sr.’s latest arrest comes less than 24 hours before his son and the Chiefs head to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII. Kansas City hosts the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium, where Mahomes II will look to win his third Super Bowl.
