Julian Edelman calls NFL team after Bill Belichick can’t find a job.
Bill Belichick, perhaps the greatest football coach of all time, may not take an NFL field in the 2024 season. Julian Edelman has a hard time getting his head around it.Belichick didn’t land one of the seven head coaching jobs this year, but he hasn’t drawn much interest on the open market.
Only one team interviewed the future Pro Football Hall of Famer and another team “saw” him.Edelman, who played under Belichick for more than a decade, believes his former coach’s cool response worked to his advantage in the NFL. “I mean, if you don’t hire Bill Belichick, not everybody can win in this league. “It’s absolutely ridiculous,” Edelman said on the “Team 33” podcast.
“Yeah, he’s a tough guy. Yes, it is a force at work. But any team that brings him in is immediately 35% better because of the amount of knowledge and experience he has. “He saw everything during the game,” he said. After leaving the New England Patriots, Belichick’s reputation didn’t seem to help his cause. Executives with the team, which hired a new head coach in recent weeks, were “relieved” Belichick was not hired.
Next year, demand for 71-year-olds is expected to increase. At that point, more teams may regret not signing Belichick when they had the chance.
