The 36-year-old has coached the Patriots in a variety of defensive roles over the past 12 seasons, including the past four as linebackers coach.Belichick’s contract with Washington was not finalized as of Monday morning, but he is expected to join the Huskies this week. Belichick and his brother, safeties coach Brian Belichick, had the opportunity to return to the Patriots after their father left.
It is unclear whether Brian will remain in New England. In joining Washington, Steve Belichick will reunite with Patriots coach Jed Fish in 2020. Fish spent the last three seasons as the head coach at the University of Arizona and most recently became the head coach at Washington.
