Five Ways Too Early Here’s Bill Belichick’s landing spot after the 2024 NFL season.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had Dallas as a landing spot. Bill Belichick has been a manager or assistant coach in the National Football League for the past 50 years. However, there’s reason to believe Belichick’s streak could be snapped when the 2024-25 NFL campaign begins in September. Belichick did not have a head coaching job available this offseason. The Washington Chiefs hired former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn on Thursday to fill their eighth and final vacancy. Belichick spoke to people in Washington and Atlanta about the opening. If Belichick starts the season on the sidelines, it probably won’t be far. The future Hall of Famer has been mentioned as a potential NFL analyst, and a consulting gig for Belichick seems likely as well. However, it is still unclear whether the 2023 season will be Belichick’s last as a coach. He said in his farewell news conference at Gillette Stadium that he wants to continue coaching and is just 15 wins away from tying his all-time wins record.
The initial five landing spots after the 2024-2025 campaign are:dallas cowboysMakes sense, right? The Cowboys decided not to move on from head coach Mike McCarthy this offseason, but they also did not extend McCarthy’s contract. McCarthy is entering the final year of his contract. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also doesn’t hide his feelings about Belichick. “I know him personally and I like him,” Jones told Jory Epstein of Yahoo Sports. I have no doubt that we can work together. Not. Not”.
Philadelphia EaglesThe Eagles had “extreme interest” in Belichick this offseason, but ultimately settled the issue with head coach Nick Sirianni. Like McCarthy, Sirianni doubted he would return after Philadelphia’s once-promising campaign. But apparently Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie isn’t a fan of Belichick.the New York GiantsAnother NFC East team?! Brian Daboll is entering his third season in New York, and while Daboll was named the 2022 Coach of the Year, the Giants haven’t had much success under his leadership.
Daboll and Siemens will have different coaching staffs in 2024. This could be good news for Daboll, or it could be his last chance to right the ship. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk recently wrote that Belichick has long believed he wanted to return to New York, where he won two Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator.
Buffalo BillsBills coach Sean McDermott couldn’t save Josh Allen’s team. Sure, they’ve won the last four AFC East titles. But if McDermott and the Bills can’t stay healthy and make the postseason next season, it’s reasonable to think ownership could make the difference. the chicago bearsLike others on this list, Bears coach Matt Eberflus has struggled in Chicago. The Bears have the no. 1 in the 2024 NFL draft, with USC quarterback Caleb Williams as the favorite. Williams’ successful rookie season could help Eberflus keep his job. But if Williams goes down, it looks like the Bears could bring in someone new.
