Tom Brady Sr. Explains How ‘Ego’ Hurts Bill Belichick With Patriots.

“She didn’t know what she was missing without Tommy.

“Tom Brady’s father believes Bill Belichick’s high self-esteem did the legendary coach no favors when his tenure with the Patriots ended. Make no mistake: Tom Brady Sr. Belichick is arguably “the best coach in football” and deserves credit for New England’s two decades of success. But the famous quarterback’s father also believes Belichick acted too self-interested, to the detriment of himself and the Patriots.

“How many times has he said he wants to win without Tommy in ’15 or ’16? She didn’t know what she was missing without Tommy. You lose a lot more than a quarterback,” Brady Sr. told Christopher Gasper of the Boston Globe .”Ego gets in the way sometimes. I think Bill did the same. Now he’s in a situation where everyone has been crucifying him for the last few years and his roses are shining even brighter.”Ego may have prevented Belichick from entering the market. In the end, the 71-year-old has spoken with just one team since leaving New England, and the Atlanta Falcons, fearing his leadership, passed on him.

A quiet move in free agency could prompt Belichick to change his ways as he searches for his next coaching job.
