Jerod Mayo joins Phil Perry to discuss his experience with imposter syndrome and how he uses it as motivation. Bill Belichick’s replacement for the New England Patriots has Tom Brady’s approval. On Tuesday, Brady appeared on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show and discussed a variety of topics. Among them was the Patriots, who hired Brady’s former teammate Jerod Mayo as their next head coach.
Like longtime receiver Julian Edelman, Brady believes this is the right move for a New England team hoping to make a smooth transition to the next chapter.
Jerrod was a great leader, a great captain and a great friend,” said the legendary quarterback. “I think he was very successful in football and after he retired he was successful in other areas of his life. Then it will be back to the coach. I think this is good for the NFL and good for the Patriots.”He understands how things should be done. I think Jerod does a great job with everybody in the locker room and all the coaches and I think he’s going to do a great job.
“A great leader, a great captain and a great friend. Brady and Mayo played together for the Patriots from 2008 to 2015. A two-time Pro Bowl linebacker, Mayo has been a team captain since his rookie year.Life without Bill Belichick will take some getting used to, but Pats fans should be encouraged by Mayo’s strong support for the GOAT. They need all the positivity they can get after a 4-13 season that saw them miss the playoffs for the third time in four years.
Mayo has no shortage of to-do lists as he begins his head coaching career. After promoting defensive backs coach DeMarcus Covington to defensive coordinator, he must hire an offensive coordinator and special teams coordinator before turning his attention to NFL free agents and the Patriots’ third overall pick. As for Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion is set to begin his career as a commentator on FOX next season.“I spent 23 years just observing and now I can go further and speak to a wider audience. I put my body and brain out there so people can see me and lead a team. Now I can do it differently with myself. voice…,” Brady said.
