Anthony could make waves during spring training.
BOSTON — The Red Sox have high expectations for their top three prospects, and the buzz surrounding Roman Anthony could grow exponentially through spring training. The 19-year-old is the top Sox prospect in Boston and is coming off an impressive season that earned him a promotion from Low-A Salem to High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland.
Anthony’s time with the Sea Dogs was short, but he hit one home run, eight RBIs and a 1.020 OPS in 10 games. However, his growing star power in Boston’s farm system did not hinder his overall goal of a major league baseball career.”It’s always a good feeling to receive an award. “It’s nice to see all the hard work slowly pay off,” Anthony said of the Red Sox development program. “It does not matter to me. Because the bottom line is to come here and help this team win the World Series in Boston. For me, it’s nice to win awards and have people recognize what you do every day, but it remains the same.
The process remains the same. The final goal is to reach as soon as possible. But now everything is fun. -Anthony starts with that. His stock could continue to rise with the possibility of a promotion to Triple-A Wooster, which is not out of the question this season. However, the outfielder’s goal has not struggled despite high expectations. “I don’t think it’s going to change,” Anthony said of his goals this season. “Going into spring training last year, we didn’t know what was going to happen. I tried to learn as much as I could from all the guys around me who were more experienced than me and they kept that mindset at every level.
For the first time, I tried to rely on men with more experience than me who were in the same situation as me. So I think it’s the same regardless of level, I try to learn as much as I can and improve every day.
