After speculation that former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick would eventually move to the Atlanta Falcons, the answer was a surprising no.
The Falcons hired former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their new head coach while Belichick was fired.ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday. The Falcons interviewed Belichick twice, but ultimately chose Morris as the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach. Now Belichick will likely step down as coach in 2024.
The Seattle Seahawks and Washington Chiefs are the only positions that are open, and both teams are interviewing candidates.Belichick only interviewed for the Falcons job, which may make him an outsider at this point. The greatest coach of all time may not have a job next season. If not, his next decision could be to retire or take a year off and go through the interview process with another team in 2025.
