Garrette Blount responds to rumors linking Belichick and the Falcons. Former Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount has responded to reports that the Falcons are interested in signing Bill Belichick. If things change this offseason, New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones could be in good hands.
Jones may want to be traded or released after a tumultuous final six games of the season. But a very bad sign that the signal-caller could stick with the Patriots for the final season of his rookie deal is if the Patriots decide to pick up Jones’ fifth-year option this spring. Three-time Super Bowl running back James White thinks that could be the case, saying on MassLive’s “Eyes on Foxboro” podcast that he thinks it’s very likely Jones will get one last chance with the Patriots.”I’m not surprised.
Everyone says things like “tune in and let go”. Maybe what she wants is a change of scenery that could be good for her. But I said I really like him on the roster,” White said. “Whether they win or not, whether they draft a rookie or bring in an experienced player, he’s probably going to be a player competing for a starting spot. He has been successful in this league for the past two years.”It didn’t work out, but if you bring in the right offensive coordinator, you will put him in competition with someone else.
Who knows what will happen next season.” Jones looked like the future of the franchise when the Patriots selected the Alabama product with the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But now, three seasons later, it doesn’t look like Jones has a serious future in New England. what do you think? Please leave a comment.
But with a new Jerod Mayo-led regime under Bill Belichick, the Patriots may see Jones as a salvageable asset, especially if they have a new offensive coordinator to help him. With Jones unexpectedly gone as New England’s offense fizzled, Belichick named Matt Patricia and Joe George the division leaders for 2022. Things didn’t improve when Bill O’Brien took over as offensive coordinator in 2023.
There are a lot of rumors that Jones has lost the trust of the Patriots locker room and that he may eventually leave. He upset some in the organization by attending Mayo’s introductory press conference last week, but his presence was largely due to the fact that he continued to work out at Gillette Stadium despite the end of the season. This could be a sign that the Patriots will stick with Jones next season.
According to Spotrac, Jones will make $2.8 million in 2024, making him an affordable option even if he ends up being the Patriots’ backup with the third overall pick.
