It’s unknown where Bill Belichick will coach during the 2024 NFL season, but it may not be the New England Patriots as he continues to look for a head coaching job elsewhere. Jerod Mayo took over coaching duties for the Patriots and stepped into GOAT-sized shoes to fill in New England.
So where do all these coaching changes leave Steve Belichick and Brian Belichick, the two sons of the Bills football coach? You’d think that sons would follow their father everywhere, but apparently that’s not the case.
Like Bill, Steve Belichick and Brian Belichick plan to continue coaching in 2024, but unlike their father, their plan is to continue with the New England Patriots. Stephen has been with the Patriots since 2012, serving in a variety of roles and working closely with the defense. Most recently, he was the outside linebackers coach. But now Jerod Mayo can shake things up and bring in his own staff.
But despite these changes, Steve doesn’t appear to be in danger of losing his spot with the Patriots. In fact, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Steve could be promoted to an assistant coach/executive advisor role. The same goes for Brian, who joined the Patriots in 2016 and then worked his way up to become the team’s safeties coach starting in 2020.
Brian’s potential role in 2024 is unclear, but reports indicate he is staying alongside the Patriots. By mid-January, that facility means Belichick’s son could still be part of New England’s future. Does this mean there’s a crazy scenario where Belichick could one day be the head coach of the Patriots? You never know what can happen in the wild and crazy world of football. If Bill Belichick wants to be an NFL head coach in 2024, he now has only one option.
