Former Nigerian player John Mikel Obi has spoken out about Jose Mourinho’s demeanor after a defeat.
Mikel Obi played for the Portuguese after joining the Premier League team in 2006.
He went on to play 119 games for Mourinho during two seasons.
Mikel Obi explained on the Obi One podcast how Mourinho would dismiss everyone after a bad result.
“With Mourinho, as long as you’re winning, you’re fine,” he remarked.
“You’re his best friend as long as you’re playing well.” You’re OK as long as everything is going nicely. I recall him staying upstairs in his office for a few days after we lost an important game.
“He wouldn’t come down to the practice field; he doesn’t say anything to anyone.” In the morning, you greet him, and he walks past you. He never comes to the restaurant. You won’t see him for a few days until we return to the field and win again.”
