Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats are making another push on the recruiting trail, with one of the nation’s top prospects now on campus.
Five-star forward DeMarcus Henry has officially begun his visit to Kentucky, giving the Wildcats an opportunity to make a strong impression on one of the premier players in the 2027 recruiting class.
Henry, a 6-foot-7 small forward, is ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 at his position by Rivals. His recruitment has attracted plenty of attention, with several major programs competing for his commitment.
Kentucky is among the eight schools currently on Henry’s list, alongside North Carolina, BYU, Louisville, UConn, Kansas, Ohio State and Arkansas. He has already visited Louisville, UConn and Arkansas, making his trip to Lexington another important stop in his recruitment.
For Pope and his staff, landing a player of Henry’s caliber would represent another significant recruiting victory. Kentucky has already been active in bringing highly regarded prospects to campus, and Henry’s visit could provide the Wildcats with valuable momentum in the 2027 class.
However, Kentucky received some less encouraging recruiting news at the same time.
Five-star point guard Nasir Anderson has canceled his scheduled visit to Kentucky this week. Anderson has not completely ruled out rescheduling, but there is currently no new visit date in place.
Anderson is ranked No. 15 overall and No. 6 among point guards by Rivals. The 6-foot-3 guard from Prolific Prep in Florida has Kentucky among his 10 finalists, along with North Carolina, UConn, Providence, Syracuse, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia.
The cancellation could make Anderson’s recruitment more difficult for Kentucky, particularly with the possibility that several current Wildcats return next season.
Zoom Diallo, Alex Wilkins, Mason Williams and Jerone Morton could all potentially be in the picture for Kentucky next year, creating a crowded situation for any incoming freshman point guard.
Still, recruiting is constantly changing in the transfer-portal era, and a canceled visit does not necessarily mean the door is completely closed.
For now, Kentucky’s biggest recruiting storyline is Henry’s visit. If Pope and his staff can turn the trip into a commitment down the road, it could become one of the most important additions to the Wildcats’ 2027 recruiting class.
