Kentucky basketball head coach Mark Pope welcomed members of Big Blue Nation to Memorial Coliseum on Thursday for the annual Hoops and Heels event, giving fans a special opportunity to connect with the Wildcats ahead of the new season.
The event, held at the University of Kentucky’s historic Memorial Coliseum, offered supporters an exclusive look at the basketball program and its players.
The excitement began well before the doors opened. Some fans arrived as early as 11 a.m. and waited for several hours for the opportunity to meet members of the team. The event officially began at 7 p.m.
For many attendees, the long wait was simply part of showing their support for Kentucky basketball.
“We want the chance to meet the team and let them know that the women of BBN support them and we’re gonna cheer them on all year,” Tracy Brown and Lida Hubbard told WKYT.
The evening featured opportunities for fans to interact with the Wildcats, along with entertainment that included player dance-offs and a question-and-answer session.
The event provided another opportunity for the Kentucky basketball program to connect with its passionate fan base as Pope prepares his team for the upcoming season.
Beyond the basketball and entertainment, the event also served an important charitable purpose. Proceeds from Hoops and Heels went to the Markey Cancer Foundation, supporting its efforts in the fight against cancer.
With the season approaching, events like Hoops and Heels continue to give Kentucky fans an opportunity to get closer to the program while showing their support for Pope and the Wildcats.
