Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats have received an important recruiting update that could have BBN fans paying close attention to what happens next.
Five-star 2027 guard Adan Diggs has officially scheduled a visit to Kentucky, giving Pope and his staff a major opportunity to make their case to one of the nation’s most highly regarded young guards.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Diggs is scheduled to visit Lexington on October 22-23. He will also visit Arkansas earlier in the month, with that trip scheduled for October 10-11.
Diggs’ Kentucky visit could be particularly significant because it will coincide with the Wildcats’ preseason exhibition game against Texas Tech. That gives Kentucky a chance to showcase its program, atmosphere and style of play while hosting one of the top prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-4 guard is ranked No. 7 overall in ESPN’s Top 100 and No. 6 in the 247Sports Top 150. He is also regarded as one of the top shooting guard/combo guard prospects in the class.
Diggs brings plenty of versatility to the court. During the EYBL season with Vegas Elite, he averaged 18.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.
While his three-point shooting was inconsistent at 33% during the EYBL circuit, Diggs has demonstrated the ability to create offense, attack defenses and impact the game in several different ways.
Kentucky getting the visit is an important development, but it does not mean the Wildcats have won his recruitment. Arizona is reportedly viewed by some as a significant contender, particularly given Diggs’ ties to the state.
That makes Kentucky’s October visit even more important.
Pope and his staff will have the opportunity to show Diggs what his future in Lexington could look like and make their pitch for why Kentucky should remain firmly in the conversation.
For BBN, the next step is simple: wait for the visit and see how Kentucky’s recruitment of one of the 2027 class’ elite guards develops.
