NBA Draft week has officially arrived, and Kentucky fans have plenty of reasons to tune in as several former Wildcats look to take the next step in their basketball journeys.
The 2026 NBA Draft will be held over two nights at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, with the first round beginning Tuesday night and the second round taking place Wednesday. The Washington Wizards currently hold the No. 1 overall pick, and all eyes will be on which rising star they choose to build around.
Several elite prospects are expected to headline this year’s draft class, including Kansas star Darryn Peterson, BYU standout AJ Dybantsa, Duke phenom Cameron Boozer, and North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson. SEC standouts Darius Acuff of Arkansas and Nate Ament of Tennessee are also viewed as potential high selections.
While Kentucky may not have a projected lottery pick in this year’s draft, Big Blue Nation still has plenty of interest in the event. Former Wildcat Jayden Quaintance is expected to hear his name called somewhere in the first round after establishing himself as one of the most intriguing young talents in college basketball.
Another player Kentucky fans will be watching closely is Otega Oweh. After an outstanding season that earned him All-SEC honors, Oweh enters draft week hoping to secure one of the 60 available selections. ESPN currently ranks him as the No. 60 prospect in the class, putting him right on the edge of being selected.
Oweh’s combination of athleticism, scoring ability, and defensive toughness could make him an appealing option for teams looking for an experienced wing who can contribute on both ends of the floor. While his draft position remains uncertain, there is still optimism that a franchise could take a chance on the former Wildcat.
The first round of the NBA Draft begins Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN and ABC, while the second round will be televised exclusively on ESPN on Wednesday night.
For Kentucky fans, the biggest storyline will be tracking where Jayden Quaintance lands and whether Otega Oweh can hear his name called. As another draft week begins, the Wildcats once again have representatives hoping to continue Kentucky’s rich tradition of producing NBA talent.
