Mark Pope is still searching for ways to complete Kentucky’s 2026–27 roster after coming up short on several major transfer portal and high school recruiting targets. That search recently extended to the international scene, where one name generating buzz was Stefan Joksimovic.
However, that possibility has now been shut down.
Joksimovic, a 6-foot-7 wing from Slovenia and a projected 2027 NBA Draft first-rounder, was rumored as a potential addition who could fill a major need on Kentucky’s roster. But according to his agent, Sasa Zagorac, those reports were never accurate. He confirmed that Joksimovic has no plans to pursue college basketball and will remain with his current team, Baskonia, in Spain.
Zagorac made it clear that his client is fully committed to continuing his professional development in Europe and is focused on the upcoming season with Baskonia, ending any speculation about a move to the NCAA.
For Kentucky, this removes a potentially ideal solution at the small forward position. The Wildcats had been looking for a reliable option at the three, especially after missing out on top target Tyran Stokes.
As things stand, Kam Williams is expected to take on a significant role at that position, with Braydon Hawthorne also in line for minutes. Williams’ versatility allows him to shift across multiple spots, but the roster still lacks a clear, proven impact player on the wing.
With Joksimovic now officially off the board, Pope and his staff will have to continue exploring other options as they work to finalize the roster.
