Kentucky Basketball has added a familiar face to its roster, as Lexington native Jerone Morton is officially returning home to suit up for the Wildcats.
Morton, a standout at George Rogers Clark High School, is no stranger to success in Kentucky basketball circles. He played a key role in leading GRC to a Sweet 16 championship in 2022, where he earned Most Valuable Player honors, and followed that up by guiding the team to a runner-up finish in 2023. His performances at Rupp Arena during his high school career already made him a well-known name among Big Blue Nation fans.
After high school, Morton continued his journey at the collegiate level, spending two seasons at Morehead State before transferring to Washington State for the 2025–26 campaign. While with the Cougars, he started 29 games and posted averages of 7.8 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per contest, providing steady production and experience at the Power Five level.
Now, Morton brings that experience back to Kentucky, giving the Wildcats a seasoned guard with local roots, tournament experience, and familiarity with the intensity of playing in front of a home-state crowd at Rupp Arena.
For Kentucky, the addition adds depth and a homegrown story as the program continues building its roster for the upcoming season.
