Kentucky forward Brandon Garrison has officially entered the transfer portal, leaving the Wildcats with one year of eligibility remaining. Garrison, who arrived in Lexington after transferring from Oklahoma State following his freshman season, spent two years with the program showing flashes of his potential as a versatile contributor.
During his sophomore campaign, Garrison primarily served as a backup to Amari Williams, averaging 5.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 17.3 minutes per game across 35 appearances. While his role was limited, he had moments that hinted at more, including a strong all-around performance in an 83-82 win over Oklahoma where he finished with 12 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
Heading into his junior season under head coach Mark Pope, Garrison was given an early opportunity to start due to injuries and roster adjustments. However, inconsistency and questions about effort led to a reduced role and even a brief benching early in the season. Despite those challenges, he managed to bounce back late in the year and made key contributions when it mattered most.
One of his best performances came in the SEC Tournament opener against LSU, where he scored 17 points. He also played a major defensive role in Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament Round of 64 victory over Santa Clara, recording six blocks, seven rebounds, and 10 points in a dominant showing.
Although his time at Kentucky was marked by both promise and inconsistency, Garrison proved he could impact games, especially on the defensive end. Now, as he looks ahead to his next destination, the focus will be on turning those flashes into consistent production in his final year of eligibility.
No matter where he lands, it’s always “Brandon Garrison time.”
