Jayden Quaintance just proved that sometimes the best things in life take time—and Big Blue Nation couldn’t be more excited.
The 6-foot-9 forward, who transferred to Kentucky from Arizona State, officially earned his driver’s license this week after turning 18 in July. His dad, former pro player Haminn Quaintance, couldn’t resist poking fun at the milestone:
“I guess I ain’t driving his Maybach no more,” he joked on Instagram as Jayden swapped paperwork for the real thing.
But while finally hitting the road is big news, Kentucky fans are waiting on something even bigger—Quaintance’s return to the court.
Currently rehabbing from ACL surgery, the Wildcats’ new addition is eyeing a comeback as early as late November. Head coach Mark Pope called it a “maybe-ish” timeline, but there’s no doubt about his importance. When he’s cleared, Quaintance is expected to play a major role in Kentucky’s push for a national championship run.
The Wildcats are back on campus this week for a team retreat before the fall semester begins Monday. Practice officially tips off in September, and by then, all eyes will be on whether Kentucky’s newly licensed forward can soon trade in his recovery gear for a Wildcats jersey.
Because if Jayden Quaintance drives on the court the way he does off it, Kentucky’s road to glory just got a lot smoother.
