Kentucky’s summer practices are heating up — and so is the hype around returning wing Trent Noah.
This time, it’s big man Malachi Moreno co-signing guard Jaland Lowe’s recent praise, saying straight up: “What Jaland said about Trent? 100% facts. People are sleeping on him.”
It’s not the first time teammates have spoken up about Noah. Lowe recently told media that Noah’s IQ, toughness, and unselfishness were standing out “more than most people are noticing.” Now with Moreno backing that sentiment, it’s clear something is brewing in that locker room.
Smart. Tough. Respected.
Noah, a versatile 6’6” forward out of Harlan County, Kentucky, has quietly become a key glue guy in Mark Pope’s new system. While others are making highlight plays, Noah’s doing the dirty work — talking on defense, making the right passes, and keeping the team locked in.
“He doesn’t need to score 20 to impact the game,” Moreno added. “He’s making plays that win you games in March.”
And make no mistake — when both a guard and a center start echoing the same name, it says something. That kind of cross-position respect doesn’t just happen in any locker room.
A Perfect Fit for Pope’s Culture
With a new coaching staff, a new system, and new expectations in Lexington, guys like Trent Noah are becoming essential. Mark Pope has emphasized accountability, communication, and toughness — and by all accounts, Noah is thriving in that structure.
“He’s just always in the right spot,” said Lowe. “And in practice, he makes everybody else better.”
Fuel for a Breakout?
While fans may still be learning what this roster looks like post-Calipari, one thing’s clear: Trent Noah has earned the respect of his teammates, and that’s not something to ignore heading into the fall.
As Moreno put it: “There’s a reason guys trust him. You’ll see it.”
