While Kentucky fans were laser-focused on March Madness, Kam Williams quietly made a major move — becoming the first commitment of the 2025-26 Wildcats roster. Now that he’s officially on campus and working out with the team, the Tulane transfer is finally stepping into the spotlight.
In an exclusive one-on-one with BBN Tonight’s Maggie Davis, Williams opened up about his early days in Lexington, why he’s embracing the underdog label, and how his Louisiana roots are adjusting to life in the Bluegrass.
> “I committed early, before all the attention really kicked in,” Williams said. “So yeah, I kind of flew under the radar. But I’m here now — and I’m ready to show what I can do.”
New City. New Role. Same Confidence.
Kam may be new to the Wildcats, but his mindset is anything but tentative. The veteran guard is bringing toughness, experience, and leadership to a team full of fresh faces and high expectations.
> “The fans here — it’s on another level,” he said. “It’s all love. I can already tell, this is going to be a special place to play.”
A Family Affair?
One surprising highlight from the interview? Kam’s dad might just become a fan favorite with Big Blue Nation.
> “He’s loud, he’s proud, and he’s already talking about tailgates,” Kam joked. “I think Kentucky fans are going to love him.”
