The Charlotte Hornets have bolstered their roster by signing veteran center Mason Plumlee to a one-year, $3.6 million deal. Plumlee, a former Duke basketball standout, brings a wealth of experience to the team, having played for seven franchises during his 12-year NBA career.
Plumlee’s return to Charlotte marks a reunion with former Duke teammate Jon Scheyer’s products, including Kon Knueppel and Sion James, who were drafted by the Hornets in the 2025 NBA Draft. The 35-year-old center averaged 4.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game last season, shooting 61.9% from the field and 64.8% from the foul line.
Plumlee was drafted 22nd overall in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Brooklyn Nets and is a two-time All-ACC selection at Duke. He played a key role in the Blue Devils’ 2010 national championship team alongside current head coach Jon Scheyer.
The Hornets’ signing of Plumlee is a strategic move, providing a veteran presence to complement their young talent. With his experience and skills, Plumlee is poised to make a positive impact on the team.
