The Phoenix Suns made a strategic move in the 2025 NBA Draft, selecting Kentucky guard Koby Brea with the 41st overall pick. The pick was initially held by the Golden State Warriors, but the Suns acquired the rights to it by sending picks 52 and 59 to the Warriors earlier in the day.
Brea joins a talented backcourt in Phoenix, which features Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Bradley Beal, Grayson Allen, and Royce O’Neale. During his time at Kentucky, Brea developed into a lethal shooter from beyond the arc, leading the SEC in 3-point shooting percentage (43.5%) last season. He averaged 5.9 3-point attempts per game and has a strong track record of making difficult shots.
The Suns’ front office, led by General Manager Brian Gregory, has been active in the draft, making multiple trades to acquire picks and build out their young core. Brea’s addition could help address the team’s 3-point shooting frequency, which has been a concern in recent seasons.
Brea, who measured 6-foot-5.75 without shoes and has a 6-foot-5.25 wingspan, has cited Booker as one of his favorite players. This could make for an interesting dynamic in Phoenix, where Brea may have the opportunity to learn from one of his NBA idols.
