The Duke Blue Devils are keeping the momentum alive following their 2024–25 Final Four run. Despite falling short of a national title, head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff are laying the groundwork for another strong season — and their latest coaching hire is a major step in that direction.
This week, Scheyer announced the addition of Evan Bradds as an assistant coach. Bradds, a former Belmont star and NBA player development coach with both the Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz, brings high-level experience and a reputation for building strong relationships with players.
“I’m excited to welcome Evan and his wife, MacKenzie, to Durham,” said Scheyer. “His basketball IQ, NBA background, and people-first approach are a perfect fit for our culture. He’ll help us continue to evolve and stay ahead in college basketball.”
Bradds’ hiring signals a continued commitment by Duke to integrate NBA-style development into its program — a major draw for elite recruits.
One of those recruits, Nikolas Khamenia, a 2025 McDonald’s All-American and top-15 national prospect out of Harvard-Westlake (CA), reacted to the news by sharing Duke’s official post about the hire on Instagram. Khamenia joins top-ranked twins Cameron and Cayden Boozer to form one of Duke’s most anticipated recruiting classes in years.
With Bradds on the bench and a talent-rich freshman class incoming, Duke is already shaping up to be a powerhouse again in 2025–26.
